I never touch eBay. Once bought a small item, and later had my debit card cancelled due to "a suspicious transaction attempt". That was years ago.
Our S-I-L recently bought an item from America on eBay using his credit card, and shortly afterwards £2,000 was scammed on his account. He got it sorted with the credit card company, but it seems nothing has changed to ensure better security.

I have been on ebay for over 20 years and never had an issue with my debit or credit card.

More likely to be a local shop or petrol station where they clone the card details.

Nor me, although I usually use PayPal when buying stuff. However, we are currently looking on eBay for another awning, for our new caravan and I have noticed that almost everyone wants cash on collection. Perhaps people are waking up to the perils.
