Hi, i have just purchased my first caravan...sprite firebrand (small but perfectly formed!)...and I was looking for tips on what I need to do next... I've got as far as tow bar and insurance, but as for what things are essential, I'm confused! Any hints and tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
If you buy a book such as the Caravanning Handbook (first edition) by John Wickersham it explains just about everything you need to know and how it works which is hugely beneficial being a novice caravanner.

Thankyou..the van is the biggest we can get with the car we haves towing weight..so fingers crossed up hill! Alot of people have recommended first time out in it to stay local so we have got a nice local site sorted. I will order that book...anything that helps is good for me, so excited but very nervous about it all!
There are loads of Youtube videos on every caravan subject under the sun - that's how I learned a load of great tips when I got started in caravanning four years ago. From connecting up, setting up on site, water, leccy, loos and everything in between, it's all there.
If you have camped in tents before, see what you can use again in your caravan: we've still got a lively mixture of pans, chairs and all sorts of paraphernalia. You can save a fortune.
------------- Camping Gear expands so as to fill the space available for its transportation.
Youtube videos can be extremely helpful but the downside is that you can't take them for reference in the caravan when you need them whereas a book you can. Even after 12 years of caravanning I still carry my Caravanning Handbook with me just incase I ever need instant information at hand.
