First weekend away in our van. Very please that after a 10 year gap from towing I managed to hitch up and got us there safely. Also managed to figure out how to get everything working.
My one question concerns heating water. We don't have electric hook up so everything has to run off the leisure battery or gas. Whats the most economical way of heating water. So I switch the water heater on and leave it on all the time, or do I just switch it on 10-15 mins before I need to wash up etc. Its a carver heater if that helps

just put it on before you need it, if its only for washing dishes then just boil the kettle, its quicker!

Think ahead - whilst making a meal or a hot drink fill the kettle full and use that for most jobs.
Our very first van didn't have a water heater, so we did this all the time and often do now out of habit.

Our current and previous vans have water heaters but the first two didn't. In the first two we just used a kettle, but now we tend to put the water heater on when we get up, and turn it off when we go to bed, or if we are going out for all or most of the day. Ours is gas-only, but they don't use very much we have found.
------------- Best Regards,
Colin

Thanks I don't want to go down the route of boiling kettles . part of the reason for getting a van was to get those luxuries such as hot running water. Just want to know the most efficent way of using it
