Not sure if this is the right place to post, but here goes.
We have always insured our caravans with the Caravan club, but ours is now 6 years old and the CC ins is very expensive, as we've got new for old.
It's up for renewal soon, so I'd like to shop around for a more competitive quote. It's sited during the summer and stored during the winter and some companies don't seem to want to know.
A caravan that is 6 years old will considerably still have some value to it so the quote will reflect the value of the caravan. However, each year when your caravan or car devalues in price, the cost of insurance never decreases in reflection of that so it's up to you (the customer) to ask the reason why. All insurance companies are quite willing to take money if you don't object so if they refuse to acknowledge the decreased value then shop elsewhere.
Try 'Saga' (if you are over 50) and also 'Caravan Guard' which are two that I normally use which are around £85 a year but even having a caravan that is 14 years old some still try it on wanting over a hundred quid.

We use Towergate never had to make a claim but renewal this year had only increased by 3 quid our van is 10yrs old we paid £111 a wheel clamp or hitchlock is required we have both and we keep it in storage so the fee I feel is good value
------------- its our imperfections that makes us perfect
The problem with most insurers is that for the most part people don't know how good or bad they are until they need to claim.
I mean I use a small company called Frank Pickles, never had any problem with them and for me at least they were the cheapest. but I have no idea what they will be like if I ever need to make a claim.
Can I recommend you Google "compare caravan insurance". You'll find an excellent comparison website that today saved me £70 - from itself!
As a member of the Caravan Club myself I think it's having a laugh with its prices for insurance. Price is no indicator of quality in the insurance world.
My other strong recommendation is that on renewal you use the comparator site again. The reason for this is that insurance companies tend to be very competitive in year 1 to get your business, in the hope you'll stay and make them money in subsequent years. My renewal from Cover My Caravan insurance was £70 higher than for a new customer - which they immediately reduced when I rang to point this out!
------------- Camping Gear expands so as to fill the space available for its transportation.
Don`t just look at the price, look at the small print.
I pay a little more for the convenience of not having to fit both an a ALKO wheel lock and an approved hitch lock when I park for a couple of minutes. Some companies stipulate this even if you just stop for a call of nature and the vehicle is unattended, the one I am with doesn`t and I don`t begrudge paying the extra.
There is also a company which you should touch at any price, can`t name them on here as the post would get deleted. They have an appalling record on claims - they also do pet and horse insurance and none of the local vets will treat the animals if they are covered by this company as they can`t get their fees without resorting to action.
We have been with Towergate for years,we have new for old.
Our van is stored when not in use.We use Al ko hitch lock and wheel lock plus Tracker is fitted. This hels lower the price.
We have claimed in the past, the company were excellent.

As my renewal is due at the moment Stuart, I got a quote from cover4caravans for comparison. They seem quite good, but as there was only about £1 different with their quote from my present insurers (ClubCare from C&CC) I will stick with them as I also have my car with them.
Hi , after lots of internet comparison sites and shopping around we went with Shield. A really good deal, but as others have said you don’t know how good or bad until a claim is made. Fingers crossed we don’t need to find out !!.
