Has anyone got a full refund on a faulty Caravan? We bought in October 2017 - a 2018 Elddis from Glossop Caravans. Virtually all the van has been replaced and we are awaiting further repairs on the repairs. We don’t live locally so it’s costly and annoying to keep returning the van for repairs. It is time to give up on this van and this dreadful dealer. Have you got advice about how to get our money back?
If I were you I would try and speak to Elddis directly, the chances are they have had other complaints about this dealer. I am not sure what the law is maybe you should seek some legal advice on consumer rights, but I do think that if you have allowed work to be done before then you accepted the product, I may be wrong on that and for your sake I hope I am. I don't want to rub salt in the wound but its just another reason why shopping locally is better than perhaps a good deal probably from a show when it all goes wrong.
Good luck in getting it sorted

Unfortunately, the two big milestones of 30 days and six months have passed, so returning the caravan, while possible, is more difficult and would probably require a legal battle.
If the caravan has finance, contact the finance company with your complaint, and a record of events so far. They might put pressure on the dealer.
In any case, the fight will be more difficult if you haven't logged and noted telephone calls and conversations and had any agreements put down in writing.
From what I hear both Glossop Caravans and Elddis have poor customer relations and attitude, so you have a bit of a perfect storm.
------------- Camping Gear expands so as to fill the space available for its transportation.
Everything is logged. No finance. We just kept being fobbed off with “got to get agreement from the manufacturer for the warrantee parts and waiting for parts’ and “too busy’. No doubt this was to take us over the 6 month deadline...? I understand SOGA applies to seller, not manufacturer...
Usual dealer. Usual complaints... Obviously you bought there because it was cheaper than your local dealer. I think it has been established in previous threads that the problem here is that this pile’em high, sell’em cheap dealer simply does not have the workshop space or staff to handle warranty issues on the the volume of caravans they sell.
Go to all the the caravan shows you can and make your complaints are known to everyone on Elddis stand that way you go to the top guys and they don't like it. I know a chap took his new motorhome and had a water leek and that took over two months to fix and he lives near his dealer
That six months can be extended.
Each time it as been repaired should go from that date.
Also, if not fit for purpose, even after 12 months it still can be claimed back as a refund.
That 30 day is only the tip of the ice for your rights.
The dealer is the point of contact not ELDDIS
Go to trading standards with all the info, and also this dealer as had bad feed back for years.
Might help to find out more, but do not give up!!!
Elddis built the caravan which is obviously faulty. It can’t all be blamed on the dealer.
We returned a new caravan after thirteen months of going backwards and forwards to the dealers with faults. It was exchanged for another
new caravan which was perfect.

In respect to the OP's legal rights the fact that Elddis made the faulty caravan is irrelevant; the Consumer Rights Act 2015 applies here, is very powerful and wholly places the duty to correct things with the dealer. Don't get lead aside and involve the builder, by doing so you are much more likely to compromise your legal position than help it.
If belonging to the CMC or probably the same goes for the C&CC then consult their legal people for guidence. If not the speak to your local Trading Standards & CAB.
The Consumers Rights Act 2015 clearly applies to the van as was inforce at the purchase date. It is an immensly powereful tool and will help you if you use it with correct legal advise. Doing so will also help us all by ultimately with enough using it forcing the "industry" to clean up its shoddy act. Best of luck.
Thanks so much for your advise. Spoke to the original sales person today (he rang me). Best he could offer was Trade price which was half the value of the new van or to trade it in, loosing around £5,000. When I mentioned “not fit for purpose and trading standards, he said “I don’t know about any of that stuff!!!

i think you have hit the nail on the head.. having said that if the vans were made correctly in the first place the dealer would not have to keep fixing them..
the buyers contract is with the dealer but ultimately the problem lies with the manufacturer.. its unfair to lay all the blame on the dealer..
the dealer cant win in such a situation.. the more vans they sell the more problems they accumulate..
Don’t give up. Ask to see the manager at Glossop Caravans. Tell him your story re your new van. Say that you now are taking this further and please could you have the full names and address to which all legal papers can be sent as you are now going down this route.
They will have to provide you with this information.
Your caravan is not fit for purpose, stick to your guns, we did.
They are fobbing you off. Of course they know the law.
Use the link below this to generate a letter, put in writing that you reject it and what you want. I used this after I bought a car of significant value which had issues, the dealer took a while to respond to me, I suspect getting legal advice, I was offered a replacement or full refund. I took the latter.
