Hi everyone
The reason l put the title Dark Skies is that l am a keen photographer and have started to photograph the night sky, but the is a lot of light pollution about and l would like to know if the are any caravan sites that don't suffer from light pollution so can photograph the Milky way and galaxies etc. Where live is on the Wirral between Chester and Liverpool so photographing the night sky can be quite a challenge. So any advice would be most grateful.

Perhaps post in th3 thread for caravan and camping parks in uk? Might get help from motorhomers and campers who use sites too 😛 non caravaners might skip this thread here thinking it’s not relevant to them when in fact they might be able to offer good suggestions?

Halse Farm, Winsford, on Exmoor perfect situation. Have a look at the sites review. Lovely site with great facilities and on The edge of Exmoor.
There is a dark skies club worth a google!
I think that Derbian is correct. If you want the best and closest to you then I would visit this site
http://www.visitkielder.com/stay/camping/kielder-caravan-park Or just type in on campsite search on here the name Kielder Water Caravan Site. I would also visit this web page http://www.visitkielder.com/visit/kielder-observatory You can paste the address in your browser or google Kielder observatory.
Thanks everyone l will be looking more at mid Wales. For next year in June 2019, My wife is off to Bulgaria with several friends next June, so no wife no dogs BLISS. just kidding, so l can photograph all night doing astrophotography and maybe light painting photography and get some sleep during the day. But there's always a BUT it depends on the great British weather.

Don't know if it exists now, but we once stayed at a garden centre site in north Wales - Ross Farr (don't know if spelling is correct) and it was so dark at night you could not see your hand six inches from your face. Absolutely no lights of any kind around, except those in our own caravan.
And as for quiet - nothing unless a small creature happened to move in the grass. Spooky!
