Hi
    We are in the process of getting a bailey ranger gt60 4 berth FB . We have been looking into getting a kampa rally air pro plus 390 awning but we have been told we would need 390cm or more of straight roof level, awning track for it to fit, so our question is does anyone have a GT60 that would be able to check if there is enough straight track,we look forward to your answers.

The best suggestion I can make is to search for a (side view) picture of the van, & make an estimate assuming that you know the overall length of the van (interior length 5.49 metres I think).

From the pictures I've found, the GT60 seems to have a very long flat roof so there should be more than enough straight track.

The next question would be if the awning will cover half of a window (stops you opening the window for ventilation).
Don't forget to allow room for the van's door to fully open inside the awning.

Thanks for the info I have done a bit of digging around and found an old thread on here from a couple of years ago which said they needed 400cm of track and there GT60 still had 50cm free at each end.

From what I’ve found out about the awning there should be enough room for the window and door.

The photo I looked at seemed to show a very narrow gap between the edge of the van door (when latched open) and the window.
That's why I raised the topic.

When we bought a new van I did the same sort of exercise to see how our existing Kampa Rally Pro (poles not air) might fit.

I have a 390 pro plus, it has a zip section which covers the front side window, can be zipped down so the window is in use or zipped up. When zipped up its black not see through

Great I didn’t know about the zipped panel ,I didn’t know that there was a panel at all,I thought it was just opened space .

And therefore the end of the awning would be clear of the window and door and both could be opened as normal.

John, the plus bit has a back panel, it can be zipped down half way to enable the window to open as normal, none of the windows in our 2017 model open in the plus bit although the panel at the front can be zipped open and tied back. Also none of the panels completely zip out so cannot be removed, top, bottom and one side opens to enable them to be rolled back. Mesh panels are on a different zip and work fine if you get them. It's a well made awning, big to carry though and quite heavy (as it can't be broken down into seperate pieces). We also got the Kampa Gale pump, works off the car cigarette lighter and has it inflated in less than 5 mins, well worth buying. Hope this helps

This is ours, (2017 version) absolutely love it. Plenty of room and relatively easy to pitch (albeit a bit heavy to thread). As Grandad Kenny says the back panel in the annex zips down to allow access to the caravan window should you need it. I don't bother with the electric pump, seems quite expensive. The hand pump takes me approx. 100-110 strokes to full capacity, obviously more physical effort and if this is an issue for whatever reason then the Gale is a must.

Good photos,the one we’re looking at is the 2017 model I’ve seen some videos on YouTube showing how to put it up and as you say it does look a bit heavy to thread , having said that I understand there is a pulley system you can use to pull the awning through.

Another expense if we decide to go down that route, as for the gale pump well we will have to see how we get on with the hand pump first,
If it’s too exhausting then I will let the wife stop for 5 mins and have a cuppa or something a little stronger before she starts again............

I'm revisiting this post as I've just come back from a lovely holiday in France. Because of my work situation we don't get out in the van too often and since new this is the first extended outing for the awning so I thought I'd report back.

Great holiday, great weather except one afternoon/evening when it rained quite heavily (we're not talking monsoon here, just a good downpour) The awning absolutely leaked like a sieve. Not just from the seams but across the entire area and not just the odd drip, we may as well have sat outside in the rain. Very, very disappointed in its performance. I have bought some Fenwicks re-proofer to give it a go over but I'm back at work now and won't be home until Christmas to try it out.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I'll report back once I've treated it and had the weather gods test it for me!!

Hi, our friends had the same problem, Kampa said it was the thread they used, it had to get a good soaking to make it seal properly in the future, ours has never leaked. Our friends leaked twice and they did not go down the re-proofed route but had it exchanged. The new one doesn't leak!
