Our new to us compass omega 432 is fitted with a Winterhoff WS3000 hitch.
For security we bought a milenco hitch cover, but the cover won’t fit over the hitch because the bolts are just a fraction to long, and it’s a very small fraction! But just a smidge too tight to allow the cover to go over. I have found a place that sells friction pads and bolts for £89, how often do the pads have to b changed?
Would it be OK to file down the bolt heads to enable the hichlock to fit?
I’m literally talking an ‘almost fit’ but not quite amount of filing!
Had my van with the WS3000 for 14 years now and not had to change the pads.
There are a couple of locks made specifically for this hitch - could you exchange?? See:

There is a specific 'Robstop' lock for this hitch which is very compact and light - ideal to take with you. it can also be fitted when hooked up if you have to leave the van at services for example.
Its a very good hitch - also had ours for at least 15 years odd and no pad change required.
the original bolts have been changed, which I didn’t know until I tried to fit the new milenco hitch........which got scratched.
The hitch has some paint rubbed off, so can’t return.
We had a Winterhoff WS3000 coupling that I transferred from our Elddis to our Coachman, then let it go when we bought our Swift. I still have a set of which I bought but never had to use. The local accessory shop was selling them at £69, but I visited a BPW outlet and got them at £24.00.
The man at the BPW counter said £69 was a rip-off price.

I don’t think The bolts fixing the winterhoff are the right ones, hence the smidge to long to allow the milenco to slide over, so my question is, would it be OK to just file the bolt heads a fraction so as to allow the milenco to fit?
Sandra I had a similar situation - the WH hitch came with a Bulldog hitchlock which also would not fit over the bolts. Bolt it up, then hacksaw or file off the excess - as long as a few bolt threads protrude, you'll be fine
We had a really good Bulldog Hitchcock for our Winterhoff. When selling off a few items no longer required, nobody seems interested in this Hitchcock, so it eventually went to the tip with other scrap. Shame, really.
