Our trusty old van has not been out this year as yet, a puppy has curtailed our travels somewhat. I have let the van insurance lapse but plan to take the van up from here in Devon, up to Thruxton for the British Super Bike weekend next Friday.

So, in a nutshell, do I have to/should I insure it.

Thoughts please.

You dont have to insure it, not a legal requirement.

If its stolen or in an accident that writes it off, would you just shrug and buy another?

Hi, don't forget there is also recovery of the damaged caravan that you could be liable for in certain circumstances.
