I know you have the twist button to open the cassette and the press button to allow air to flow in whilst emptying but mine also has another one that looks very similar to the twist button that turns and the middle of it is spring loaded but can't see what it does.
Reason I ask is that I noticed it has a very slight leak when I carry it on its side to empty it
My cassette is the larger thetford type if that makes a difference.

That's the pressure relief valve and is there to allow the build of methane gas to escape otherwise the cassette tank would pressurise and eventually explode if not emptied soon enough. The rubber seal does become ineffective after a time and needs replacing, in fact I have recently had the same problem so mine will need replacing too.

Hi, the above is correct, changed mine this season. Got it from leisure shop direct about £15 if I remember. No tools needed just turn to correct position and it comes out, then line up lugs on new one put in and turn back into place.

On the subject of cassettes, about 10 years or so ago, I had a Swift Challenger with a fixed bed. It was an excellent caravan with a few niggling faults and if it wasn't for the weight, I wouldn't have moved to Bailey, which turned out to be a disaster.
Back to the topic, the Swift had a large cassette, which, unlike the smaller cassettes we have with the Baileys, didn't need emptying every day as we always use our own facilities, which is wahat modern caravans are designed for.
Have these larger cassettes been discontinued or what?

I've been caravaning for the last 15 years. First 10 in a 91' Bailey and the last 5 in an 04' Elddis.
Both have been twin axle vans at the longer end of the spectrum so maybe bigger vans come with larger cassettes or possibly larger cassettes are rarer in newer vans.
