Good morning. I currently have a Dandy folding camper but I’m struggling with set up, as there’s only me and my 12yo son and I have a degenerative spine condition, so finding the Dandy too heavy and I’m considering a caravan instead. I drive a Ford Fusion 1.6tdci which can only tow a maximum of 750kg braked. I would prefer to be as far under this as possible as the Dandy is 500kg fully laden and I’m very aware it’s there on hills!

I’m looking second hand, about £2000 to spend, give or take a bit for the right one. I’ve narrowed it down to a Freedom, Eriba Puck, Fleurette Tamaris or a Rapido pop top. Am I missing any? And out of those listed, are there any major pros and cons? I know the Eribas tend to be more expensive and I’m not sure how I feel about the canvas pop top sides, so I think they’d probably be out anyway, but I love the look of them!

Any advice would be much appreciated :) Thanks in advance.

Some Tamaris models maybe over 750kg the 38T is 850kg I think.

I think your going to need to put the word out to get a good one at that price.
Find one someone doesnt use but not thought about selling.

Tell averyone to keep an eye out especially if they find a dirty one which has not moved for a while. Budget for a brake/hitch service though.

There was a tamaris went through on eBay for £2200 that was 630kg which was the one I was liking the look of. I didn’t realise there were different versions of them so I’ll have to watch out for that!

630kg unladen weight?? Watch out for sellers that list the unladen weight. You wont know if the payload is 100kg or 200kg. The payload limit could put you over the limit.

Some buyers get the caravans replated to carry a little more weight so always check before parting with the money.

This one says 580kg / 750kg.

This ones finished and 680kg/850kg.

The £2000 one is that the one that had several leaks and needs some TLC? Take someone with you if buying one like that. There maybe damp hiding.

The one that’s just ended that I was watching says “Mass in running order of only 520KG and maximum allowable weight of 630KG”

It was this one: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F163168947068
