keeping windows and doors shut at all times when its windless midge time is difficult during hot weather..
i have just spent a fortnight touring north west scotland.. keeping the midges out wasnt a problem one just has to be aware when they are about.. the hot caravan with all doors and windows closed was the problem..
in the end deet is an answer.. and when outside never stand still.. he he
when the wind drops the midges appear.. if the windows and doors are not tightly shut they will rapidly get in the van.. once in they are in..
tis all about the wind.. watch for it to drop..

We’ve got one of those blue light things like they use in butchers shops. It does seem to work. For protection I now use Smidge, not cheap but have never found anything else that works at all.
Most caravans have air grills from under the floor that do not have a fly-mesh covering, presumably to disperse gas in the event of a leak. Easy access for our flying friends.
Another vote for the Blue light catering type insect zappers here, just returned from a stay on a horse riding stable CL, lots of midges and horse flies around, but with the zapper plugged in they didnt last long even if they did get past the fly screens.
Best bit of kit l ever bought and it has saved me from suffering all those painful bites that l was so prone to in the past.
