Hi. I have a 1992 ABI diplomat deluxe which i bought for £350 in January 2018. It's been great but now the water pump has started working intermitantly. Actually not at all though occasionally it will. Any suggestions? I can hear the taps click half way turned on though that may just be a mechanical workings. I don't think it can be a fuse as it has worked for a short time after the issue became apparent. There has always been anissue withe the kitchen taps only working when the bathroom taps work but that may be unrelated.
Many thanks.

If your taps have micro switches, which sound like they do, that is probably the problem. If they are not working, the water pump will not switch on. But if the bathroom ones are then the pump will deliver water to the system and you will probably get water out of the other taps if they are opened. Walk through on how to change a switch Here

Does it work if you wiggle the pump on the outside of the van? the connectors on the pump may look like this :o. the copper connectors tend to get pushed together over time and do not make a good connection. Try gently increasing the gap between the connectors with a small screwdriver (careful not to snap them).

It certainly does sound like a microswitch problem. All the taps are fitted with microswitches and turning any one of them on should start the pump. Have you tried turning on a kitchen tap, then if the pump doesn't start leave the kitchen tap open and turn on a bathroom tap. If the pump starts and water comes out of the kitchen tap, the microswitch on the kitchen tap is faulty. Hope that makes sense.

Colin

Also have a look at the copper connections on the caravan and pump, give them a clean with steel wool or a bit of emery paper, it could be a simple bad connection

Hi to all. Thanks for all your replies. I tried wiggling and it seemed to do something but then stopped again. coincidence? It worked briefly for 30 secs yesterday then stopped again for good. I did think of scuffing the connections with sandpaper as all i had. No good. We are fetching water as in tenting which is fine. I will sort when we're back home. Thanks again all.
