Poor quality control and the people who could put pressure on them keep quiet in case it affects advertising revenue in the Club’s magazine.

Basically the method of lightweight construction, so many joints all prone to leakage.

I totally agree.
Both clubs refuse to address this issue, which we all aware of.
Shame on them both.

Do a search, that question has been asked many times.

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Awnings are the main trouble over tight they pull the awning rail out so damp can get in

I understand that some caravans are made of moulded fibreglass so don't have so many joints and are less prone to leaks. The Freedom Caravans are all fibreglass I believe although probably too small for family use.
If you are buying second hand then look for one with as few joints as possible...i.e a solid roof not split down the middle, a single window at the front rather than triple windows, and no chrome or wooden strips around the outside etc.

We have a 16 year old Bailey, and the only reason we have not updated is the van is dry, not a hint of damp anywhere. We see no point in risking a newer, or even new, van, with the issues with water ingress.
The caravan industry in this country needs to sort its act out, it is producing to many defected vans.
We paid £5500 about 9 years, the van has been all over France, living there for a few years, and she does everything we want with not a hint of damp or mould anywhere. I now realise how lucky we have been, the van owes us nothing now.
Never been covered by the way.

the way they are made i am surprised they dont leak more.. :)
but as long as people want large vans filled with luxury item that weigh as little as possible things are not going to change..
