We have a drive which slopes down. I move the van back into it with the mover and want to stop it running back downhill.
I can fit the Alko wheel lock with the mover still engaged and that holds it on the hill. I pull the hand brake right up but when I release the movers off the wheels it rolls back on the unclamped side. This makes the van skew wiff across the drive and difficult to straighten.
I have the cross bar actuation so rollers should come off together.
I know the hand brake doesn't work backwards for a bit but can't see how to stop it rolling. If I chock the wheels, the hand brake will always be not working for a bit and I dont fancy leaving it close to the house relying just on a chock.
If I allow it to roll back before fitting the lock to allow the hand brake to work, I still have to motor forwards to fit the lock as it has to line up.

Make sure that the damper is pulled out and not compressed otherwise the over-run device in the braking mechanism will be activated not allowing the brake shoes to make immediate contact with the drums thus allowing the wheels to roll.

Have you thought about ditching the Alko Wheel Lock and go for another brand?
For example the Nemesis Ultra can be fitted with the wheel in virtually any position.

Cannot you take the van slightly forward of where you want it, pull on the handbrake, and release the mover rollers. The van should then settle with the brakes on. Re-engage the mover, release the handbrake and use the mover only in reverse to get the wheel aligned so that the wheel lock can be fitted, then re-apply the handbrake and disengage the mover rollers.

No problem, we have a steep drive. We fit the ALKO lock with the mover engaged then put a brick behind each wheel then disengage the mover leaving the handbrake off. Have been doing this with three different caravans over the last 12 years.

We always put blocks if wood behind the wheels.
