We are on a seasonal pitch. Our aquaroll is always plumbed to a nearby tap, so I never have to move it to re-fill.
Wondering if anyone has ever used a bigger water tank than the 40/50 litre barrels. E-bay has tanks of 100 litres and upwards. One of those would cut down the number of times I have to re-fill.
What are peoples thoughts?
If I am understanding your question right, could you just not use a mains water kit which includes a float valve screwed in the side fill point on the Aquaroll?

From what I can see you would be better spending your money on the float valve unit as suggested, it will do all the filling for you automatically. The are plenty versions on Fleabay, you only need the float valve and a connector as it sounds like you have the hose but if not the complete kit is there too.

or do away with the float valve idea altogether and just get the mains kit that plugs directly into the van, we use that whenever we can or have a tap on the pitch, never had any issues at all with it, we do however take a few precautions such as when going out for the day turn the tap off, we do have an internal tank tho so never without water

I looked at one of the main water hook-ups you describe, I was put off as soon as I saw the price and instead just bought the float valve kits.
why be put off? ok yes a bit more expensive, but then again less wear and tare on the caravan pump, less work when setting up, just plug it in and off you go, no having water standing in full sun! so water is always fresh and cool

But how do you find the flow rate? My experience with the Whale system is that it works ok, but the pressure reducing valve reduces the flow below that of the usual pump
we find ours to be the opposite actually! painfully slow with the pump, but near house pressure when connected up, are you sure that you have turned the tap on fully?
what risk? al;ways hear people saying about but not once have I seen anyone its happened to us includd and we have had ours 15 years now and use it at any chance I can get! im the one that fetches the water and believe me if I can get out of having to do that then I will but not if I thought for one second my caravan was going to flood with it, as for flow rate like I have said its far better with the direct feed then using the pump, its nearly as good as the taps at home!
As well is two words!
