Hi I've got two leisure batteries in my van, buy my charger doesn't tell me when the batteries are fully charged. It's just continues to charge at a high or low rate. Firstly is there a device that I can add that tells me how much charge there is in the leisure battery? Secondly does the leisure batteries charge off the alternator? Thanks
You need a voltage meter a few quid from Halfords etc. Fully charged battery after it has been off charge for a couple of hrs will read 12.6v or more.
Leisure batteries will charge from car while towing provided car towbar is fully wired for caravan use with either twin sockets or single 13pin socket & in case of twin leads on older caravan both are plugged in.

If you have a campervan with the usual split charge relay then battery will charge from alternator. If all is well then leisure battery voltage should read over 13.5v on anything over a fast tick over. You can see now why a voltmeter is a handy addition to your toolkit.
