You can get 40 foot trailers with single axles, you would need a HGV to tow them, but it could be done.
I have owned a 16'4" caravan with 5 berths, but as said you need a licence and suitable car, we found the awning was the answer, our caravan even has an output from the central heating to heat the awning. It allows extra privacy.
It is clearly a compromise, the old sprite musketeer had 5 berths at 14 foot long, but no shower etc. In the main the 5th bed is a bunk bed which is not ideal.
I still remember 1960's pairs of caravans that linked together, and some crazy ideas. OK that one is twin axle.
But to have 5 in a caravan is always a squeeze, so likely you will need an awning, so what you have to consider is what you will do in the awning, cook, sleep, etc.
