The problem for campsite owners is that if they divide up the available space for dog sections and dog free sections they may have to turn away customers if one section gets full even though the other section may have spare pitches...then they might have to charge even more for dogs

There’s a lovely looking springer type on this site (Landes) at the moment. It has been allowed* to paw its way into the pitch, 3 different locations, each approx 10” deep x 2ft diameter.
I doubt this particular pitch will be chosen by any tent campers, if anyone at all, for what remains of this season!

*Allowed by the owners... I know this as I saw it in action as I walked past, both owners sat smiling and cooing at their little darling enjoying his very own adventure holiday!!

We had a similar experience on a site near St Tropez, yes we are posh, a couple of years ago.

The owners of a Hungarian Vislar delighted in feeding it scraps from the table, but it had to bark before it was treated. Yes, they actively encouraged their little darling to bark! Luckily, everyone on the campsite were not only dog lovers, but we all loved to hear the little sh**bag barking.

As an owner of two dogs, I still cannot see the fun of taking the mutt on holiday, and it certainly annoys many other site users.

Charge £15 per night per dog is the answer. 👍😀

Lol Bob, If they poo on the pitch, it is drowned in water, but as the beach on this occasion is only 500mtrs away they normally do it on the beach, so not only is the poo picked up but the surrounding sand too. Unlike french people who just bury it, and when confronted with a bag just shrug and do nothing.

Most dog owners are responsible its the ones that aren't that make these posts so long

Many sites charge extra for more than two people. To many of us a dog is just as much part of the family as another human.
Most dog owners are responsible and ensure their dog does not run around loose and interfere with other campsite users. The same cannot be said about many child owners.

If you wish to take your four legged friend on holiday, open your wallet and shut your gob

Personally speaking I HATE any site owner who charges you extra for this and extra for that....... I mean to say, for heavens sake charging extra for an awning quite literally stinks and as for dogs being charged ahhhhhhh.

And before any of you start saying get real they must be able to charge it is their business.......... to which I say:-

Up until a few years ago I built and owned 2 exclusive sites in France and our pitch charges were all inclusive, OK our sites were adults only but apart from the pitch charge there were no other charges levied, they were ALL INCLUSIVE.
In fact the second site we built was the first site in Europe to have some fully fenced dog pitches at absolutely no additional charge, and these pitches were enormous so that the love pooches could have running free holiday just the same as their owners.

Since returning to live in the UK (because France is going down hill so quickly financially as is Italy, Spain, Portugal and heaven knows where else in the dreaded EU) we have built out own self built motorhome and we are a member of the Caravan & Motorhome Club and we tour extensively in it, but only ever stopping on CL sites where there is no charge for dogs.

There is a great World to be found out there, but by the very day, to find where it is becomes more of a challenge!
