Does appear to be a non issue to me also, unless walking an extra 8 feet is that much of a problem.
How many times do you need to go from car to van when setting up?
Never been a problem which way they want us to park.

It's nicer for us to be caravan, awning then car so if it is raining you don't have as far to walk before you are in and dry. But caravan club always make it that car is as far away from caravan and awning door as possible. Not sure why because so long as everyone is same fire regs and gaps between outfits would be the same. Wish they would swap.
Not so on C&CC sites. Maybe on some, but on a lot that doesn't apply and you can pitch how you like. At least that's the case on grass pitches. Not sure about hard-standings as we never normally use them.
