A1 Newark turn off - that roundabout is like Mad Max !!!!

i am very familiar with that one.. not too bad for me its first exit left turn for me both going and coming..

its the ones i have to go right round changing lanes as i go that scare me.. modern drivers seem to treat round a bouts as ideal overtaking opportunities they fly past me both on the left and the right.. he he

Hi, I had never towed until this year. Towed 3 times on my own and once with my partner (first time he had towed as well). Issues, none really make sure car is adequate to tow the van you want, don’t rush around and take your time. I have a sprite alpine 2 berth, very nice van, but I would say that I bought one and tow with a Tucson 1.6 t-Gdi petrol. Seems to be ok.
But I have read and watched, I think every bit of info I can lay my hands on. I think I still need to lol

We have a 2005 compass omega 432, I think very similar layout to the xplore you mentioned in your first post.

We love ours, the wash room is lovely and we use the basin and loo, the shower is there if we wish, but as we pay to stay on sites with facilities, prefer to use them. Have the option if we stayed on CL sites.

The van has a mover which makes pitching very easy, and as we store the van at home we can move it easily whenever we like. It also has a winterhoff hitch and stabiliser, which makes it solid as a rock to tow.

I do all the towing and have done for over 10yrs, I didn’t like being caught in side winds whether large trucks on motorways or high winds.
Therefore prefer less stress of a shorter van.

For over 40yrs we have owned caravans, tents, trailer tents, folding campers so have a bit of experience.

Good luck with whatever you choose and enjoy the project!

The length of the van makes very little difference and the longer it is the easier to reverse.
We like a fixed bed although they take up a huge space we feel its worth it to us. The last van we had had a end washroom and was fantastic, this van has a corner washroom so combined shower and toilet and a hand basin in the bedroom area. It is ok but is not as good as the end washroom. We thought we would use the site facilities which we did and we still do, but we are using the van shower more and more now. It works for us but it has to be dried out after each use not really a problem it only takes a minute with a sponge and then a cloth.
