Can anyone help. I understand the law & what is nessasery regarding parking a caravan on the road, your drive and private land.
What about parking on an off road public car bay, no signs or markings.
Appreciated.
By 'off road public car bay' I assume you mean a council-provided one, otherwise it is unlikely to be for public use. In the case of council owned property, no markings does not mean that a caravan cannot be removed, and it might be deemed as only being for car use and by residents local to an area.
The most logical way forward would be to make enquiries first, starting with the local council.
It's surprising how many complaints are made about caravan parking, even if on one's own property and not really offending anyone. Sight of a caravan, even at a distance, is enough to rile up some residents' backs.
Our caravan, between the house and garage and behind high gates, has been known to draw the odd adverse comment.

Kenles. Just a small 2 birth. The 2 Tops. There is a car been parked here for weeks with tyres slashed. They do not live here but have friends that do but still taking up a parking space for someone that does live here. Council say if its taxed insured and mot there isn't a problem so anyone from anywhere can park there that seems a little unfair.
I know just the sort of parking area you mean, there's one round the corner from me in the next avenue. A couple of years ago my neighbour who lives at the corner house adjacent to the car park brought his caravan from storage a few miles away and parked it in the car park for a few days, to do some minor maintenance work and pack it up for a forthcoming holiday in France. A resident complained and he got a visit from someone from the local council who told him to move it asap - when he explained why it was there he was allowed to leave it until he went away it BUT it had to be attached to his towing vehicle all the time and moved if it was deemed necessary as it was in a resident's CAR park not a caravan park.
I understand you being a bit peeved about the car with the slashed tyres being there for weeks but if that's the sort of thing that happens would you REALLY want to leave your caravan there??

Isn't the clue in the name?
Perhaps people would get worried seeing caravans there and worry travellers might be moving in, it would not be readily apparent to them that it was a temporary fix.

The van on its own would probably fit into a parking bay.
There are a few vans sitting in small local car parks around here & they don't present a problem[1].
A caravan + car combination would be far more of an obstruction, so well done that local council.
Apart from other posts which I think answer your question, how long is the caravan, my car barely fits a standard car parking space and some it doesn't so your caravan must be quite small to fit any of them, why even contemplate it! or are you really looking for the cheap storage option!
Yes, it's directly outside my home with security monitors fitted to the van if anyone tries to enter or move it + I have a security camara pointing at it.
Would this place be too far for storage? We used to keep our van there.

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Not sure if you have looked on the CaSSOA site or even on here UKCS.
