Hi can anyone help please. saw in practical caravan mag that you can get a mounting plate which will hold down the spare wheel if stored under the bed in the caravan. you secure the plate down with 3/4 self tapping screws. could anyone tell me where I can get one please or any other ideas how I could stop it from moving around. I have a raised bit of wood above the floor for it to stand on so the screws would not be going into the floor of the van. Thanks again.
Have you thought about getting in touch with Practical Caravan and asking them?
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

On previous vans I have found the Al-ko underslung sparewheel carrier to be a very poor arrangement. This has led me to wonder, as our Swift handbook indicates that the rear panel of the caravan is designed for the fitment of a bike rack, what are the chances that the spare wheel could be mounted here instead.
All that is needed are the details of the fixing points and the maximum permissible weight for bikes plus carrier. If I can keep the spare wheel and mounting bracket within these parameters, then there should be no problem. A leatherette cover, similar to what sometimes appears on the back of station-wagon-type cars would keep the appearance clean and tidy.

Thanks for all your help, been on to swift they do the baseplate and it will be ok on our new Buccaneer on the raised wood board under one of our beds. so all sorted. Thanks again.
Wonder if that Swift mounting plate would adapt to fitting on the rear panel of our Swift Challenger where a bike rack can be fitted? Will have to get onto Swift for some info.
