Ok so I made some 16mm spacers to fit between motor mover cross bar and chassis. I have seen a similar thing being sold on line but as I am an engineer and have a mill made them myself. Whilst I had each side off I also found play in the two bolts that the mover slides back and fourth on and the slides themselves. I turned on my lathe oversize bolts to take up the wear in the mover and hey presto movers are all working as they should. With the difference in height, play in bolts and play in mover slide I would say when being used the mover had at 80 mm off set from centre which is why it was riding up the tyre.

sounds like it was more to do with wear in the bolts and sliders than the actual height relative to center..
