Hi all
In August 2016 I purchased my Swift Charisma 545 from a well known local dealer, in Feb 2017 had the service done by a Mobil caravan engineer who found damp in near side of caravan nearly the full length of the van & stress cracks over front windows, reported this to the dealer who said this would be repaired under warranty but couldn't fit it in until Oct 2017.
Took the van in in Oct where the cracks were repaired & new awning rail fitted all under warranty.
In Feb 2018 had the service done again (it was very damp outside & when the engineer had the heating ,boiler , fridge all running on gas the van was full of condensation )
He found high damp readings again in same place as previously found, reported this to dealer who informed me this would be repaired under warranty as the 12 month warranty was valid from previous repair,
Was told to use the van throughout the summer & check the damp readings regular,
Still was getting 30% readings all through the summer, took the van in on Sep 26th for repairs, I visited a few weeks ago to check on the work & was informed they had to remove all the cupboards & wallboards & replace with new I was impressed with the workmanship & was told they were waiting for a wood grain wallboard to be sent from Swift for the back of the drinks cabinet
Now my question is do you think I should push for compensation for loss of use or just be grateful the repairs were done under warranty
The dealer said they will give another 12 month warranty for this repair.
Looking forward to your views/replys
Thanks Graham
Hi Madasaman
I have to agree with you the dealers been brilliant with the warranty work,it was someone at work told me to try for compensation as they have had the van 14 weeks now causing me to miss out on using the van but think I'll just be happy to accept the repairs
Regards Graham
i can see why someone has told you to claim compo, if they had done the job correctly the first time in oct 2017 as they should have known better that damp would cause unseen damage and investigated this properly at the time then the further findings for damp wouldn't have happened, I would go as far as saying that they only did half a job and prayed that it wouldn't show itself til after the warrenty had expired, thankfully for you your serviceman found it, but to make you wait even further before repairing (again) I would take the view of if you don't ask you don't get and try and push for a 24 month guarantee this time at the very least
You have no chance of getting compensation for loss of use, trust me.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Hi All
Thanks for your input I've decided to just be happy the repairs have been done under warranty & the warranty extended for another 12 months,
So wont be chasing the dealer for compensation
