You go along to your local dealership and see the ideal second hand caravan at an ideal price and eagerly pay your money...... However it doesn't always work out like this.
My Elddis heap of junk that was rejected by me with numerous minor and more serious faults was immediately sold on by my dealer to another dealer without the issues being fixed. It was then bought by a new caravanner.
Quite by chance the new owner found my email address in the documentation and from another source realised he had my caravan. After a few exchanges of emails he knew the full facts, and was able to get his money back from his much more reputable dealer who had no idea he had bought a lemon.
If your dream second hand caravan is too good to be true, it probably is!
Going by your experience, mine and others, this warning should be made into a sticky as it seems to be common practice in the industry! Both of us can prove this also.

Sadly you can also get new Caravans that are not up to the mark. Manufacturers and some dealers cannot be trusted to sell good quality Caravans and willingly put things right.

The OP was specifically about a "rejected" caravan being sold to an unsuspecting consumer by another unsuspecting dealer who did not know its history.
Our new motorhome arrived yesterday, and I followed one simple rule AVOID ANYTHING BRITISH. After a lot of research we got a Benimar and on close inspection so far it looks brilliant. Some interesting little things included as standard, 2 warning triangles, yellow high viz jackets, windscreen insulated cover, fridge vent covers, teat towel, oven glove and apron. Even discovered the crappy Ford sat nav software has been replaced with a special motorhome software.
In October 2016 we found a caravan that suited our needs, it was a swift 2012 model with 2 years of the manufacturers water ingress warrantee left.
we were advised by a friend to have an independent damp test as the dealer that we had bought it from had been known to him.
the independent found damp in the bathroom, I confronted the dealer, I had to take the van back they tested the area and confirmed that there was damp, not as high as the independent though.
It was repaired through the manufacturers warrantee.
damp two year old vans = poor manufacturing standards . Isn't it time uK manufactures got their act together otherwise they are going to go the way of British Leyland producing sub standard / Friday afternoon specials??
Surely Trading Standards and the like should be getting a grip of uk manufacturers who give fantastic claims about their products but yet fail after in short term ...Its appalling .
