We are thinking of buying a Knaus Sudwind 540. Does anyone own one and if so, do you have any advice.
It would seem that there are not many dealers in the UK.

We have a Knaus Sudwind 550 TK. 2004 though, so not sure what year you're looking for...

But...!

We love ours - even if the door is on the wrong side!

It was 'self imported' by the x3 previous owner, and even in the time we've owned it, we've had NO problems with damp / leaks etc.

Build quality is unbelievable great, and you notice this in the overall weight of the van - they're built like a tank, and so it shows!

We have had to (only) replace the water heater. I'd say that's a separate issue to the actual van though.

Other than that, not much else to say, but any other questions, just ask.

Seventeen years, and never ever had a hint of being refused site access or getting insurance.
Sad to say but the biggest issue once going this route is ever settling for UK build quality again.

There is no doubt that they are solid well built caravans, but in comparison to a British caravan regarding fittings which would be standard everything seemed to be an expensive extra on the Knaus even the aerial.
On opening and closing the front blind it literally fell apart. On all the blinds there was a gap at the bottom allowing a lot of light from outside into the caravan.
We left impressed with build quality but not with the way fittings were done.

The only extra I had to get was a element so the heater was electric and gas, I think it was £120, and it was fitted with a good size freezer and a proper fridge, not the silly little things in a UK vans, I almost forgot it doesn't leaks,

I've just gone and smashed one of the ceiling light glass shades...!

(Wanted to check what bulbs is in them, as I want to change to LED's...)

Didn't even entertain a dealer for a new one....

A few clicks on Amazon, and a new whole light unit with IDENTCAL shade for £12....
