hi guys does anybody have any idea why my external water pump is constantly on ive gone through 3 now ive started turning it it of now.
thanks in advance
We get something similar, either when the pump isn’t submerged, or when there’s an airlock in the system. When setting up, I’m now careful to empty the pump and it’s feed pipe; after switching the 12v power on, open the bathroom taps to vent any air (H & C) then kitchen. This primes the system properly.
I’m no expert, but I read on here that some folk have to adjust the sensitivity of a sensor switch, down by the hot tank. Hope this gives you a basis for further investigation, it’s a beggar to burn a pump out.
Do you have an onboard tank with pump and a second pump to pump water from an aquaroll into the onboard tank. Is the second pump the one you are referring to.
i do have an on board tank but i think it filled from the aquaroll i use the external submersable pump im quite new to this only on my second season and had a good few problems.

I may be wrong but I am fairly sure that on the Elddis caravan the Whale pump needs to be calibrated. There are instructions on how to do this as the calibration is done at the rear of the water socket and inside the caravan. Use the bathroom basin tap for setting up the calibration.
Hi. We have a superstorm with onboard tank. As far as I am aware the external pump is simply used to fill the internal tank. So when you flick the switch to EXT it will constantly pump until you switch to INT which then pumps from the internal tank.

The external pumps fills the onboard tank and should then shut down when the onboard tank is full. If not it needs to be calibrated. If you want water but do not want to fill the onboard tank, put the switch in the middle position.
The reason why the pump may continue to run when the onboard tank is full is that the top float mechanism is not working properly. When the water gets to a certain level the float should switch off the pump.
Conversely when the onboard tank empties and there is still water in the outside barrel, the ext pump should start operating to supply water to the caravan i.e. 80l continuous supply.
If this is not happening then there is an issue with the lower float in the onboard tank not activating the external pump. More then likely the float is touching the bottom of the tank "too soon" and not allowing the ext pump to activate. It needs to be removed and the end that is touching the floor chamfered to allow it to go further down and activate the ext pump.
Hope this helps!
