I'd really like to get a Freedom Caravan with a washroom, but they're only available with a double bed (I think).

However the bed looks very big, could it easily fit myself and my partner and our 9 year old?

Would your 9yr old be happy with that arrangement, given that they will soon be aproaching their teenage years?

There would certainly be a major lack of privacy, which was the main reason we had to take a break in our long caravanning career when our daughters 'no longer wanted to share a bedroom with Dad' never mind a bed!

We had to wait to return to the hobby until after they had gone off to university or left home to start a family of their own. Using an awning to set up a toilet/washroom in may work for a while, as would using an air mattress or sim on the floor of the caravan for a year or two, until your 9yr old is mature enough to sleep out on their own in a bedroom pod in the awning, although some sites do not allow this or charge extra if a small Pup tent is used for this purpose.

Looks like the freedom caravan will be a compromise either way so isn’t going to be an option.

The Rookie L, Xplore 304, Eriba Troll 504 are likely to be better options.

There are plenty of small lightweight caravan options available out there. If you fill in your profile details to give an indication of the tow car you would plan to use, and the area you are from, then our fellow members would be able to advise you of what may be available to view around your local area dealership wise.

How much do you plan to spend approximately?

Does size matter for reasons of storage at home, or are you just a little nervous of towing a larger caravan than a Microsized for the first time?
