A magnetic base will only be attracted to ferrous materials that contain iron and due to the fact that a caravan roof being made from aluminium sheeting the mag base just wont bond (not unless you have a magic wand). A magnetic base will only be attracted to metal surfaces such as a car body or the steel body of a motorhome or camper but not a caravan unfortunately. However, the Status 315 is the same as what is on our caravan and we don't have any issues at all as we manage to receive well over 100 channels every time.
Have you got the booster power pack switched on?
If switched off you won't receive a signal.
The pointed pinnacle at the top is also part of the reception so unscrew it to see if the screw thread has rusted.

Buy a log periodic antenna, preferably 22 element or over It will work (almost) anywhere in the country and give a good signal with little noise. £15 - £20

The trouble with the flying saucer or other omni-directional antennas is the signal they receive is very weak, a booster then amplifies the signal but also amplifies all the noise too.
If they were any good they would be fitted on top of houses

If you decide on a removeable aerial have a look at the Avtex STH 3000. It suckers on the outside of the bodywork of the caravan. It does have a built in booster but that requires a 12v connection unless its used with an Avtex TV where the power is drawn through the co-ax cable. We had one in our previous motorhome for use when we couldn't get a satellite signal dues to trees etc.

The colour of the logo on the aerial might be important.
The early 315s had purple logo and the latter were Orange/red; they work very differently and you must use the same colour box as the areial.
The purple ones had the amplifier built into the areial, the box only being a power connector for this.
The later orangy/red ones the amplifier was repositioned into the box.
The amplifiers have not been trouble free, including mine.
With the earlier purple ones if it fails the whole lot is a throw away job, with the later you could find simly changing the box cures the issue, as these had a very simple areial which apart from a wire breaking can't go wrong.
I replaced mine with a Fringe amplifier, rather than the original.
If in a strong signal area, try the aerial connected directly to the TV, if it works then but not via the box, then you know it is an amplifier faul, easily cured.
All that said these omnidirectional aerial are challenged in weak signal areas, they simply have little innate gain.

I had poor reception with the tv we had in the caravan, the signal varied depending where in the country we were. I bought a satellite kit, the type from Aldi, that was very good, and works off 12v.
But we decided to get a new TV, Avtex, what a difference, all the free view & satellite gismo's are inside the TV. Its very rare that you cannot tune into a signal using the caravan static aerial.

Bought 2nd caravan, a few issues sorted now but found aerial doesn't work, a status 315 looks like a sealed unit so most likely have to get new. Thought about external aerial ideally fasten to jockey wheel as a temporary measure? also seen in Go Outdoors simple antenna which is magnetic so can sit on roof while on site anyone any other ideas
This is just my opinion, but if I were you I would stick with the aerial attached to the jockey wheel.
I have had nothing but problems with all three of the aerials I have had on my van. First one snapped (it was one of those useless whip aerials) the second one (an Omni aerial) cracked at the base and leaked, and the third leaked again even though I couldn't see where it was leaking from, no cracks.
I've finally come to the conclusion that covering the hole with a small sheet of powder coated aluminium that is bonded to the roof with Sikaflex will solve all the problems.
I'll still have TV for those days it rains just by using a small aerial I attach to the jockey wheel and I will have no problem with a leaking aerial.

Last year I stayed at Ponden mill near Haworth. No TV signal, no mobile signal so t'internet dongle didn't work (Vodafone or 3)
This weekend I used a different antenna, a Kathrein BAS 66 flat satellite antenna so I had TV and radio
