After a tough year this year so far, with only a weeks use out of our caravan due to illnesses in the family, we are considering our long term options for next year.
My Husband is starting to feel he would like to reduce the amount of fairly long frequent tows that we have done in previous years, yet it would break our hearts to have to give up our much loved hobby for good. So our options are as follows,
A. Find a seasonal pitch where we can leave our caravan set up for the season and come and go as we please. This would need to be on its own perminent pitch as part of the plan would be to create better wider and shallower steps to get into it due to my Athritis in my Knee Joint.
B.Trade in for a Motorhome, stop and go as we please, without having to do a full set up all the time. The downside is of course the expensive cost of doing so, and the fact that there is a high chance that our driving days may be over within the next 5years anyway due to age/disabilities, and selling something on without a Trade in is not always easy. This option would also not solve the problem of me needing better and easier access to get onboard, or where we would store my mobility scooter in a compact Motorhome, as we are restricted to a max length of 21ft drive length for parking.
C. Take a bit of a gamble and buy a Static caravan for our sole use. Nothing new, something fairly compact, and just hope that everything works out well in the long term and we manage to get around five more good years out of it before we become too old and frail to travel anymore, or we get kicked off site due to new rules or ownership of the land we are pitched on.
D.Give up the Hobby and sell up entirely, find a rental property such as a little bungalow, and become regular guests throughout the season. We are now finding that Hotel rooms no longer forfil our needs due to lack of decent comfy seating in the rooms, and beds so high off the ground they must have been designed by people with a 35inch inside leg measurement, leaving me to have to use a step to get in and out of bed!

Thankyou Rob for your reply, we are now thinking of going down the seasonal pitch route for next year, and are now looking for availability and prices in the Filey area of North Yorkshire.
This is a place that we both know well and love, its also only a couple of hours up the motorway from home. We dont normally bother using an awning, so its not a problem to us if the site prefare Awnings to be removed between visits. We need to check out what effect using a seasonal pitch will have on our Caravan insurance, but hopefully it wont be too expensive. My scooter can be charged off board by just removing the battery pack, which we just bring inside the caravan, the main scooter lives in our car boot ready for use.
At the end of the day, if we dont like this arrangement, it would be easy enough to return home and sell up if needs be, at least we will have tried it out first.
If anyone has got any recommendations for seasonal pitches on a fairly quiet site in North Yorkshire, please let us know. We dont need anywhere with all the whistles and bells of large commercialised sites, a farm site would do, as long as it has EHU, level hardstanding pitches, and is secure. A toilet block would be good, but not essential, as we have good onboard facilities of our own.
Has anyone else followed this path as a alternative to retiring from the hobby for good?

Thankyou Catie for your kind advice. I am now looking to find a site around Filey who have availability for next year, but so far without any Luck, so far the replies that l have received say that they are fully booked with regular customers, and there is a long list of people awaiting any vacancies that may occur in the future.
Some of the larger commercial sites who do have availability, want meggabucks for the privalage, and we would end up paying for a busy site with facilities such as swimming pools and kids clubs, often with rental static caravans for neighbours, which is something we would not use or want.
We will just have to keep on trying l suppose, something may turn up at the end of the season when people return home for the winter, or possibly decide to move to a different area for next year.
Any knowledge of recommendations or availability in this area would be very much appreciated please.
