I have just recently become aware of the need to change caravan tyres within certain time limits (5 years) and on checking mine found one was right on that limit and one a year older than that (just bought van a year ago). So I ordered two NEW tyres from kiwk fit and arranged to have fitted by a mobile fitter outside my house. As he was in the process of changing the tyres I checked the date stamp and was shocked to find the tyres were already 18 months old, I rang to complain to be told they were unable to guarantee age of tyres, when I pointed out that I was going to lose at least 20 percent of the wear I eventually got them to refund me the same amount, just saying be careful out there!!!!!
quote"The European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation (ETRTO) clearly specifies that when stored in optimal conditions, tyres may be considered new for 5 years from the date of manufacture.
A tyre sold as a new product may be safely used for at least 5-6 years. Some sources indicate that the upper limit of operational life may be even 10 years, but we recommend that 5 years after the purchase, tyres should be checked by a specialist at least once a year."
It is only recommended that tyres are changed after 5 years in service and even then if they are checked annually and are OK then 7 years would appear to be the Tyre industry recommendations.

Partly in line with the quoted text from Saxo above, I've discussed this subject before with a trusted specialist. The advice given was that its safe to use the fitting date as opposed to the date code shown on the tyre. I've kept receipts to illustrate date of tyre replacement (mine were only 7 months old though).
Certainly valid to check and dispute though if you feel it necessary.
