Sorry I've got to ask.
A caravan is designed to be towed so as long as it's front is not so high the back is touching the floor, what is the problem with it being towed behind a flat bed?
Our traveller friends never seem to have a problem.
I know nothing about towing caravans, hence my question. Please be gentle!

its because, basically, caravans only have the bounce in the tyres that work as suspension to soften the effects of the lumps and bumps of the road, now attached to your lovely soft suspension on your car it will pivot and dampen the lumps and bumps out, but on the back of normally very hard commercial suspension their is no softening effect and this results in the caravan (and all its joints and seals) being shock about. and yes the travelling community don't seem to bother about that (along with a lot of other things) as once a caravan becomes unroadworthy, they will (cough cough) replace it (cough cough ) or give it to the kids to wreck completely

I have never seen travellers with a flat bed, pick up yes and all manner of other vehicles, but never a flat bed.
