Just got my renewal through - £198. Last year I called them and they discounted from £190 to £95. This year, no way. My car is less than 1 month old, my husbands less than 6 months and we both have Skoda Assist on our cars so only really need the arrival when we're towing!
The person I spoke to said that it was so expensive because of the Arrival bit and that no one else offers this so basically we're stuck with them!
What are others doing, or our you in the same position?
Take it from me, Arrival cover is not cracked up what it's made out to be. We was with them several years ago and needed them to assist on a breakdown in Dorset. The patrol man plugged in the dignostics and said that there were that many issues it needed to go to a Volvo dealer as their equipment was universal and not dedicated to each specific vehicle. The RAC patrol hitched up my car and took it to the Volvo dealer in Poole. They had my car for 2 days and said there was nothing they could do so I contacted the RAC for rescue to take us home which the reply was "You've already had the one tow" and refused to help even though we were stranded. It took over 24 hours to get rescued only because I threaten to sue them on the grounds that the patrol man didn't give me a choice. If he had then we would have asked to be taken back home with the caravan in tow. They did eventually assist but not without the heartbreak and tears involved so in my personal opinion the Arrival cover isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Top level multi car cover with Green flag that includes homestart and caravan cover, plus any car we may be traveling in as passengers at the time, came to £138 for a full year. We do use them quite a bit, including when the motormover failed due to the caravan battery needing renewal at the time, so l dont mind paying that price and consider it good value, especially when comparing it with the cost of a single breakdown truck call out without any cover.

Arrival is not the same as the normal Green Flag cover though. Green Flags Mayday will give a similar deal as the Arrival.
Arrival and Mayday give you more options, it should take you to the site and then return you home after your holiday.
Arrival will take you home and take your caravan to the storage yard if you need that.
It will also cover the caravan breaking down.
Standard cover will tow your caravan to one location, if the caravans not towable then its not covered unless you have the Mayday or Arrival addon.
Not much to go wrong with a caravan but wheel bearings can and do fail. Rarely brakes can cause issues. Wheel could come off and damage the hub.
Not a lot to fail compared to a car though. Wondering if its worth the extra myself. Mines due and they want almsot £200 again. Haggling it down every year is just a pain.

We have Mayday with Caravan and Motorhome Club, which is essentially Green Flag. Fine for cars but terrible if you need your caravan recovering.
why terrible for caravan recovery ?
its the reason I signed them up in order to cover recovery of the caravan if required..

We have Green-flag mayday cover, just renewed ours at £85.00 I have been with them for about 11yrs great cover we had a breakdown on our way to Cornwall with our caravan, they picked us up took us to the site 75ml away, & two weeks later the picked us up , then took us home, about 250ml away, great service, worth every penny.
It should be observed that Green Flag and Mayday are not exactly the same thing. Mayday has no size limit restrictions on length, width and height, whereas Green Flag does.
As chrisn7 says, the "normal" breakdown services usually have restrictions on length and width of whatever you are towing.
Our caravan is quite long (towing length of 7.5m) so we chose Mayday (via CAMC) to cover us even though we have cover through our car manufacturers too.
My advice to anyone buying breakdown cover that they want to cover their caravan too is check the small print for restrictions.
