Hi
Im intending on buying a tourer to site for 1 or 2 seasons.I havent a clue on the dos and donts but if any helpful caravanner out there could give me insight that would be great.im thinking initial payouts, siting fees and anything in general I could be better off knowing.
We have a seasonal pitch, this year we paid £2300, we do not pay per night, just rock up and stay for however long we want. Electricty is pre paid on a card, you just put it in the meterbox when you arrive on site, and it puts your amount on, then you can put that back onto the card before you leave (there was a problem with some people helping themselves to others electric)
Our awning can stay up from Easter until October, but you can have a porch awning on from beginning of March and then again until the end of the season, which can be extended until 1st Jan.
Seasonal serviced pitch at Clayton park was 2300 no nightly fee(this is absurd as you are paying for the pitch for the season as it is) and electric was included, you could stay as long or as little as you wanted as well.
------------- Who needs travel agents,we have our static
Ty Isaf near Bala charges £1250 for the season including hook-up (April - end Oct) and £270 for winter storage. Don't know what next year's prices will be. Good flat field with a decent amount of elbow room on a working farm a few miles from Bala; pleasant views, quiet nights, free hot water in basic but clean facilities block.
I pay £1700 March to October all inclusive for a fully serviced hard standing at Pen Y Bont Bala. Winter storeage is £150 - they tow on at the start of the season and off at the end. New owners are putting it up to £1800 next season, but making improvements too.
Going seasonal is the best thing we ever did - off there for a couple of nights today - just have to transfer the contents of the fridge from home to the van.
We did look at Pen Y Bont - walkable to town and lake, little shop/reception, nicely laid out paths, trees etc - but decided we preferred the feeling of space on teh large flat field and the open aspect of Ty Isaf despite it being more basic. Pen Y Bont just felt a little crowded for us. Everyone's different - good luck with your decision!
