Hi We sorted the damp.one corner was really bad.my husband is a boat builder so he new what to do. He striped away the panel board removed the insulation our damp had got in to the main frame. He carefully chiseled out the rotten wood.it was by the rear lights and corner joints so he used an aqua sickaflex sealant that also contains adhesive to seal from the inside. The replaced the wood and reinvested the insulation. Leaving it to set.
Hope that's help full.
Our problem is once we've replaced the panel board and filled the holes.what is the best decorating material to use wall paper or paint. From reading old blogs l have found that the panel board has a venal coating and sustain thing woun t stick to it. Need something that will cover walls that will last.kit

Thanks kit ,we heard that the wallpaper for our Bailey caravan is still available maybe you could ask a caravan repair shop to find you some for your caravan.we were quoted so £1.000 just for removing and renewing the damp wall !!! We don't have the skills you husband has and a family member who is a joiner couldn't do it because we haven't got under roof storage to protect the van from the elements while it's being done

We had to repair ours on the campsite as that's where it lives. We did the work last weekend being buffetted by the wind and rain. Good luck with the work.

I think the problem is that "back in the day" the people who were employed to build caravans were actually skilled tradesman (carpenters etc) whereas these days the workers are possibly unskilled and just shown how to do a particular job and that's all they do.

Also I think quality control on caravans is pretty shocking, my caravan from new was average at best, and a friend of mine bought a new van and it had to go back to the dealer for a few weeks due to the wet central heating not working and a lot of the cupboards finish was really bad.
