Not looking to buy one just yet I'm just trying to get an idea of what caravan I need to meet my cars towing capacity. I hoping someone can give me make and model etc.
Have you tried going to a caravan dealer and asking if the have any trade-sales? That is how we got ours. They never advertise them, but they all have them I'm sure. At that budget they are going to be older models, and they tend to be lighter than new models and are often better built too! Ours is a 1992 model, but apart from the styling it is almost like new. We bought ours in 2017 from a local dealer for £1,100. From now until Christmas is a good time to buy, by the way.
For that money you are looking at something 20 or so years old or more so round about 1999.
Each manufacturer makes several ranges of caravan starting with a budget range, mid range and top of the range. Each range will have a variety of layouts and sizes and number of berths etc.
In general, the budget range will be the cheapest and lightest.
Back in 1999 you would probably get a 2 berth at that weight or a small 4 berth such as the Bailey 460/4. Our Bailey 520/4 of that vintage was 1200kg I think.
Saying how many berths you need would be a help, also show your car so we can check the figures etc.
Our current 2016 model 2 berth Bailey Pursuit 400-2 is 1100kg MTPLM.
