I winterised my caravan yesterday (very new to this). I followed instructions I found on google. The gas canister in the front locker - I disconnected it, turned it off by the wheel thing (technical term!) and switched the little gas switch to off on the gubbins that leads to the actual caravan. The gas bottle is still in the locker. So the lead that leads to the caravan is just hanging there. Have I done the right thing?
Its going into storage and Im worrying that that was right. Gas bottles scare the crap out of me!!
The gas canister in the front locker will be fine stored in there over winter whether connected or not, but most folk leave the pipe connecting it to the van, (pigtail) connected as it's an aditional seal.

All you need to do is turn the gas bottle off with the tap on the bottle which you appeared to have done. You don’t need to do anything else. You also need to turn off the bottle when you are towing the caravan as well in case you didn’t know already.
