So I'm completely new to caravans, weve been given a Delamere Bailey 500/5 good condition. hook up works.

we have the delamination Kit for the floor we will be doing that.

We are hoping to get the lights up and running, i believe these are on the 12v battery.

Where we have the caravan at the moment its on a hook up 24/7 its used mainly to keep kids entertained and warm whilst doing the horses...

any hints and tips would be great for DIY doing it up ideas!!

Does wallpaper work in caravans? any tips for fridges? its missing a fridge...

The section on repairs on here is pretty useful.
You shuld be able to obtain a fridge from a caravan breaker, look on Google or similar search engine?

Hi and welcome. Generally speaking most caravan lights do run off the battery, but sometimes some makes and models do have one or two that are mains operated.

A lot of caravans do have papered walls, but I'm not sure what type of paper. Regarding the fridge, this would depend on how you intended to use the caravan. If you know that you will only ever be going to places where you will have EHU, a domestic fridge will be fine, but if you intend to stay on sites that don't have EHU you will need a proper 3 way caravan fridge that will work on mains, gas, or 12 volt from the car whilst being towed. You cannot run a caravan 3 way fridge from the caravan battery as they draw far too much power and will drain the battery completely in a very short time. (hours rather than days). 3 way fridges are much more expensive than mains-only ones, which is why we have kept the mains one which was in ours when we bought it. We rarely go anywhere without EHU, except maybe just overnight.

Colin

Will the water pump run off electric or does that have to be off battery too?

Our caravan has two double and two single sockets, but there is no limit really to the number you could have, only to the maximum current that you can draw.

Your water pump works off 12 volts, so it does run off the battery. However, when you are connected to EHU it will run off the battery charger. It is best to have a battery in the circuit though to stabilise the output of the charger and in case of a failure of the mains supply. It does happen on some sites occasionally.

Add more sockets but the unit is possibly rated at 16 amps.

10 amps on one circuit and 6 amps on the other, that is how mine is wired. Stick a kettle and a toaster on at the same time and its probably an overload especially if the water heater is already on.

Thats assuming the campsite post allows that much power, it may have a lower fuse/trip switch capacity.

Yes that is the case. It doesn't really matter how many sockets you have, as long as the total of things connected at any one time doesn't exceed the rating of the circuit breaker or it will trip. Things like phone chargers draw hardly anything, but things with heating elements draw a lot.
