Our last 3 trips away have been to Caravan and Motorhome Club sites. I couldn’t help but notice that the quality, size and feel of the loo roll they all use left a lot to be desired.

Its too thin, too narrow and I have to say a little rough on the old bottom. I can’t help but think if they used a better quality product they may well use less, save money overall and have happier bottoms as a result!

You can always take your own!!! I suspect the type of toilet paper you get is more down to the type of dispensers they use which are probably a bit narrower than you might use at home.

Mr Klyne one does not keep a dog and bark oneself! If I was staying at a CL or CS I would expect to provide such things. If I am paying for a C&MC main site I expect the price I am paying to cover reasonable quality loo roll together with all the other facilities you’d expect from the club.

The 4 ply Aldi stuff we use works out at 34p per roll and is nice and soft on the old botty plus there is minimal risk of the finger penetrating the loo roll with unpleasant consequences!

Not beyond the wit of man to provide loo roll holders of sufficient dimensions to accommodate a standard loo roll.

The Costco own brand for me thanks.

Don`t know how it compares financially (not my main concern when I`m on the loo TBH), but it is far and away the best stuff to have.

Sometimes certain types of Loo rolls are not recommended for some sewerage systems, and the easy break-down stuff is recommended to prevent blockages.
My Dads place is in a remote area of Derbyshire not served by a mains sewerage system, and works as an enzyme based digester, turning solid matter into liquid which then gets absorbed deep into the earth.

Certain Luxury brands of toilet paper use silicones and waxes to give a smoother softer finish to the product, but in doing so prevent digestion fully taking place, resulting in an expensive and quite unpleasant clear out service of the system. The manufacturers actually recommend using the often cheaper non treated types of toilet paper for this reason. We have stayed on quite a few campsites over the years both Club and privately owned that have these systems, and some have even gone as far as adopting the continental method of toilet paper disposal by providing a bin in each cubicle, along with signs saying ‘If you have not eaten or drank it first, don’t flush it down the Toilet please’!

I was a civil servant for 18years and they had loo roll that was pretty much Izal but with a crown printed on it. Pretty sure it never found its way to a royal arse tho!

I quite often mention loo rolls and loo roll dispensers in my reviews. It is false economy in my view for campsites to provide that thin, cheap paper that sits in a huge dispenser taking up half the width of the toilet cubicle because reams of it are required to protect ones hands during a wiping session. In one case the toilet roll dispenser was behind the loo above the cistern which was impossible to reach when seated and entailed having to pull off yards of it before sitting down just in case more was required than anticipated.

On the other hand though, walking across the campsite armed with a personal Cushelle toilet roll impregnated with Aloa Vera often results in shouts from other campers of, 'We know where you're going!'
