So I want to mount a flat screen in the wall between the lounge and the shower in my Elddis Odyssey 550.
I'm not needing a folding bracket.
Considering making a plinth from MDF or PLY and fixing it with short screws into the wall and also making an MDF base and screwing that too with shelving metal brackets under it for extra support further out along the tv.
Maybe even make some pillars to screw into the wall to prop the MDF base up.

I figure the more weight distribution I can give the wall the better.
I'm not sure on pipes and wires behind the wall so I wont be drilling that far
Can the wall hold the weight of a 27 inch TV if I spread the weight out?

possibly but risky.. i would not do it.. a lot of weight forces are at work while the van is on the move..

We use the Tv mounting bracket in the ‘van to hang coats on. Wouldn’t fancy hanging a TV on it.

Why not screw a quick release flat mounting bracket to the wall?
Then you could stow away tv when travelling and they don't look too obtrusive (you could still use board under bracket to spread load if you want) you need the tv as close to the wall as possible so that the force acting on it is downwards as opposed to outwards
If you are thinking of standing the tv on a shelf of your own making just remember that if it can be knocked off it will be knocked off

I would go for the quick release as you don't really want that much weight so high up in the van when on the move

When I put a TV bracket in my Elddis 304 I used two pieces of plywood.

One piece was glued and screwed inside the wardrobe and the other was in the same place but outside the wardrobe. And then the bracket screwed through all of the plywood/wardrobe sandwich.

On your caravan you cant really do that.

Personally I wouldn't risk it, especially with a large 27 inch TV.

Is the wall hollow? Most internal van walls are single skin. I doubt that screwing anything into such a wall would be successful. Even our toilet roll holder came adrift in our Bessacarr - the screws are just too short and the material too thin.

The wall between our shower and bedroom is double skinned, albeit only by about three-quarters of an inch. Unless you can utilise an internal noggin I would use a toggle bolt or two, different styles and sizes are available.
If it's only single skinned, perhaps utilising a piece of wood in the shower area to give sufficient rigidity to the TV mounting, and that say, be used to mount a coat hook in the shower would not look too out of place?

Personally I would not screw into wall but glue it instead as it would spread any weight better, there are all types of glue on the market that would do (joiners glue). Then do what Ratcatcher suggested and fit a quick release bracket to it that way you can take it off when travelling so there's no weight on wall.

I am suffering from cervical spondylosis, so I find it tough to watch a wall mounted TV. Thus, I have selected a retro TV unit for my room.

Glue could be a bad idea because if the kit needs to be removed or falls down, it will rip the veneer. Travelling with a 27" mounted is a very bad idea. Not good for Tv and not good for caravan.

Our Swift Basecamp came with a wall mounted tv bracket. However, although some people do, I would never tow with the tv mounted. The quick release bracket means you can de mount it in seconds.
