This is becoming a common occurrence.
Lots of approaches in Nottinghamshire over the last year with would you like to sell your caravan/motorhome and if you are not at home a hand written note scrawled on a scrap of paper shoved through the letterbox.
It does make you wonder what they are up to.
They could be dealers as I have not heard of many vans going missing.
But then again it’s a good enough reason to beef up your security measures.
Nothing can be absolutely thief proof.
Just make yours harder to steal than the next blokes.

I have had them knock on the door in the past. I usually just say "what are you going to offer me, but bear in mind it is you who wants to buy, not me who wants to sell. If I wanted to sell, I would advertise it". That usually puts them off. Notes through the door go in the bin along with the other junk-mail.

Ah, so you mean people answering adverts, not just casual callers. I wouldn't have anything to do with anyone like that. If they can't deal straight with you, tell them to go away, and definitely don't tell them where it is. Mine is on the drive, but if it wasn't I would make an appointment with any viewers and bring it home for them to see.

Hiya all, if you are selling items on here, we do post warnings of scammers on each email enquiry you receive about items for sale, and we do post details of scammers and how they operate on the Classified Advert pages

Scammer Info

hopefully with all the warnings we give people should not fall for these scammers

Sound advice there Ratty. I would never buy something like a caravan without doing a thorough examination of it myself, so I wouldn't expect anyone else to. If they don't want to examine it personally, or with an expert, they are either very stupid, or highly suspicious. In either case, steer well clear would be my advice!
