We are about to purchase our first touring caravan and want a small two birth. we are looking for an older one cost is an issue. My partner is 6 feet 4 tall and his head touches the top of one we have recently seen that we like very much, he has to bend slightly. How important an issue is this ? Asking any other tall people. What thoughts do people have on here. I was wondering if a folding caravan would be better as they seem to be a bit taller ? Are they worth considering.
At 6 foot 4 tall it would be better to make sure the bed is big enough for a good comfortable nights sleep after all you don’t stand up for long in a caravan..

Small caravans do vary in width. If you are looking for an older 2 birth front dinette rear kitchen you will find the wider ones have an internal width of 6ft 8in & bed length along caravan of at least 4ft 6in giving you a larger than standard double bed size. Abbey Piper 90s vintage is this width for example.
A bed that is too short is no good. You will wake up with cramp.
Well I guess the first question is where will you be touring?
I know it rains in Europe but if you are going south the less chance of rain so your partner won't be confined in the caravan for long periods.
As mentioned, I think the length of the bed is more important.
Your partner can sit outside (because of the head height) , whilst you fetch and carry.
What?
I'm 6 at 4" tall. Ceiling height often drops at front and rear. As long as kitchen is in middle that is OK as the kitchen is where you will stand most.
You don't stand much at back or front unless it's an end kitchen.
Beds across the van are usually long enough but many can be very narrow. We had one only 3'4" wide as a double.
Modern day vans do seem to be higher than the older ones were. Make sure you check before buying.
Our Bailey Cadiz has good headroom and is fairly square so little lack of head room front and rear.
It has two 6'5" single beds which although narrow are very comfortable. I am 6'2".
Spme of the centre and tranverse fixed beds are a little short for me.
Designers must all be small
