Some of these comments are not that old! Still people are trying to come down to Cornwall, I've heard that caravans and campers being turned away from Wales!!
I would not have an issue telling someone to b..... off back to where they came from!!
Surely people don't need to be told or wait to be told to protect themselves or others, I certainly don't.

April 2021?? Even before this began we never booked more than a couple of weeks ahead, and sometimes only days. Sometimes a poor weather forecast for a particular part of the country made us decide to go somewhere else.

I was offered either a refund, or move my booking from this April. I thought I would move it to next year as it starts to fill in the year. I think the CCC will keep it at the same price.
I had already booked for January next year as our time away fits round other commitments.

You are probably right about the C&CC prices John.

I suppose it's one of the advantages of being retired that we tend to book late. The only commitments we have really are those of our own choosing. It was probably different for us when we still had family at home but that's a long time ago now.

I'm retired but am involved in a lot of church things including leading services on a lot of Sundays. I try to sort out holidays well in advance to make sure we get them.

We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

We have to book months in advance to be sure we are able to get holidays from work. And in two years time it will get worse as our wee man will be at primary school.
Other than that it is just weekends close by.
Goodness knows when this is going to end and we will all be able to get away. I don’t want to be negative but from what I’m seeing I think it’s going to be many months not weeks.
Unprecedented times folks. However how much more we will all appreciate the trips in our caravans when all this is over will be huge.

The Gov seem think that 2 years is a possible scenario as they have extended holiday rights for employees who could not take them this year to enable them to carry over their entitlement for 2 years!

Hi Saxo,
Sadly this would not surprise me. It’s insane to think it could be a couple of years no Caravanning here in the uk. Because of dodgy produce being eaten in wet markets in China. Don’t think I’d ever have made that bet.

Put it a little clearer. If a local and a 2nd homer fall ill and both need the last ventilator in the local hospital. Who should have it?

I'm very clear, the local should get it.

Spain has already made that very clear sister inlaw told us the government has stated that Spanish nationals will have first priority over foreign nationals especially as many hospitals are already having to take respirators away from over 65's if needed by a younger person more likely to survive

France this morning have now stated that they won't impose a 14 day quarantine on UK or Schengen area visitors.

Not sure how I feel on this one. It seems this horrible thing gets worse again as soon as restrictions are lifted. Therefor locked borders may sadly be practical for some time. However that is purely from a practical point of view and must be weighed against us getting back to the freedom we have all enjoyed in the western world.
To be ho honest I had not ever really given it enough thought in the past as to how lucky we all are. Being able to just decide I want to go from X to Y and just doing it. I think I have had a tiny taste of what it must be like for some poor people in repressive regime’s all the time and I feel so lucky not to be one of them.
A real eye opener for me.

I agree, we are lucky here and we don't always appreciate it.
It is almost inevitable that once lock-down is lifted, particularly if it is lifted too soon, that the virus will start to spread again. Once people start going out and about that is all it takes, especially if they start mixing in close quarters with others. The trouble is that people can have the virus, and be infectious, without knowing it, and this is what makes it so dangerous.

Until there is a safe and effective vaccine and the number of cases has come right down, we won't be going anywhere far, or mixing with many others, which sadly rules out one of my favourite hobbies, volunteering on a Heritage Railway. On there I would normally be mixing with loads of people from all over the country, and indeed from other countries too.

Best Regards,
Colin

This is good news, but how do we justify as "essential travel" to get to the ports?

That's what we thought, but our company have stated that annual leave is to be taken as normal, even if it means your week is at home in isolation.
Great work, through all this and stay at home as your reward
