We are lucky to have our 'van on the drive - but that means that I look out onto the dirty roof every day. Since we have the time now, how is best to clean it, bearing mind that I'm only 5'1"? Have tried kids booster water pistol with washup liquid, from upstairs window! any ideas ? ( Neighbours think I'm nuts anyway).
ladders, hot soapy water and a soft brush and plenty of effort, but the main thing is to leave a towel just inside your house door way as you are going to get wet!

I put a step ladder inside th van and open the roof light so I can get head and shoulders out. Bucket of soapy water on the roof first and a squeegee mop. This lets me get to most of the roof area.
Have to finish the bits I can't reach that way from stepladder outside.
I use a step ladder and one of those longreach brushes with the extendable handle. That and a hose pipe does the trick. Don't forget to drop one end of the caravan so that the water will run off easily.
We have always used a large step ladder on the outside but last summer in France we were pitched under a tree full of birds and when we moved to our next site, we really wanted to get the massive amount of bird droppings off the roof. We didn’t have a big step ladder so we did what navver suggested above. My husband put a table below the roof window and stood on it so he could get half way out the window. He used a long handled mop to clean as far as he could reach. He then moved back to the next roof window and finally the one at the back and managed to do the whole roof. My husband thought this was a lot easier than our old method using a step ladder on the outside and is going to use it the next time we need to wash the roof.
