Someone has put a post on Facebook saying they've seen a photograph of a line of caravans all going down the M5. I doubt this is true but before I refute this, I just want to check are any sites open. I know cmc and cc are shut. What about private sites. Probably a caravan hater who has posted it. I noticed motorhomes weren't mentioned.
In Cornwall and Devon all sites are closed. Tensions are rising, visitors are not welcome while the present situation continues. Devon and Cornwall Police are manning the roads and sending people home. No one should be travelling anywhere at the moment.

I totally agree! Yours is a beautiful area, but you don't want it overloaded with visitors at times like this, I quite understand. Everyone should stay at home, it's the only way we are going to beat this thing.
I would probably have worked it too Andy, when I was on the railway. I got a good rate of pay for working bank holidays, plus time off in lieu. Never went away on bank holidays back then, and we still don't. Much prefer to go when its quieter. (And cheaper!)
We passed by Carsington water on the edge of the peak district yesterday after making an essensial visit to our nearest bank, so took the scenic route home. It looked very strange to see every single campsite closed along the way, with all entrances padlocked with their farm gates shut. Only one of them had a single caravan on a pitch, which may have been there for the use of the site warden security person, as its a fairly basic site. Even all the seasonal pitches remained empty, the entire area had an errie feel to it,the only other traffic we came across on the road was a farm tractor attending to his sheep.
It was also unusual to not see any dog walkers along the Dam wall, a favourite place with the locals from the surounding villages, but there are no carparks open, and the verges have been taped off to prevent cars stopping on them along the way.

it was yesterday and yes it was true, it was travellers, the police also recovered 2 stolen vehicles at the same time
I've booked a nice spot for the May D, VE day weekend, it was touch and go on what was best but we decided on a spot that was close to beer and food,
so the dinning room was picked over the front room.
We've got a kitchen/diner and a front room, and the booze is in the front room so that's where we'll be. Our only tent is one from the 1970s and it's up in the loft. We can see our caravan out of our front room window though.
