You definitely have to empty it every day with 4 using it. As to some of the bizarre rituals beforehand - make your own mind up! We never use anything in the top tank, and we've never had a problem because of this. Keep the bowl clean, and the cassette fresh (and emptied), and you wont go far wrong.

Just watched that video and noticed a price ticket on the box of liners for £22. If you want them, search the Internet, they’re well under £10.
Also, all this talk of pink in the flush. Our last four vans have flushed Directly from the fresh water tank so you can’t put pink in. Why designers and manufacturers think this is a good idea I really don’t know.

I put fresh water in the top tank and blue stuff in the cassette.
Works well.

So they can flog you the pink stuff. And if/when you get black bits because of it, they'll flog you something else to shift it. Who puts additives in their loo cisterns in their homes? The same stuff is going down all the toilets, remember!

I used to use the pink and got loads of black bits. I started to use an eco-friendly, non-biological laundry liquid. I used about the same amount as I would with the pink. The black bits reduced.
I got a new caravan and have only used the eco-friendly, non-biological laundry liquid and no black bits at all. I also use green tabs in the bottom tank so no more blue stained hands.

We camped for years. In 2019 we bought an Elddis Avante 454. We like it as it is short (6.9m) and fits in our driveway and has a fixed bed.
We had 127 nights away in the caravan in 2023.

Nor do we! honestly there is no need for additives, lining the loo or anything else, a loo brush and cleaner of some sort is all you need.
