Hi Peter, get your stuff loaded and then start checking and adjusting the noseweight.

You haven't given any model or year details of the Kuga but I think most of them have a fairly high noseweight so it's worth checking that before you load the caravan.

If you check the car handbook it should tell you the max noseweight that is permitted on your car. A lot of Kuga models have a 100kg noseweight but yours may be lower as it's a 1.6.

Get the caravan loaded up and check the noseweight again, as long as it's below the max weight allowed by the car you will be ok and it's usually better to have the caravan noseweight as high as permitted.

Hi my limit is 70 / 72 kg but even with the van empty it’s 80 kg what nose weight do you end up with?
Peter.

Probably about 90

Check your MTPLM on a sticker inside the gas locker. Mine has a lower weight on the sticker below right of the door but inside the locker it says MTPLM 1150kg. Mine has a shedload of extras as part of a dealer special offer so they had to upgrade the MTPLM as part of it.

A friend had a Bailey caravan, I don't know which one it was but their nose weight was high. I have seen other comments saying the same. It turned out Bailey had mounted it on the wrong place on the chassis although Bailey denied there was anything wrong for a long time. This is going back quite a few years.

mounted what in the wrong place?

Yes the whole varavan should have been placed further back on the chassis, that's what I was told anyway. They changed the van because it was so heavy, even when empty.

its more likely they had the wrong car on the front end! one with a higher nose weight and didnt do their homework matching things up before buying
