new member first time caravanner used caravan. Had a Commer Highwayman towing an Andre Jammet tent trailer years ago great times, more recent a ruddy great American RV, great kit but way over the top for me anyway been away from it all for several years now and deceided to get a caravan, unfortunately I should have taken an experienced caravanner with me because what I bought looked fine until I recently began checking everything out, ok its sound clean and good condition but half the equipement didn't work, so far repaired the toilet, toilet folding sink, replaced the shower tray, fixed the shower light and air vent, fixed various blinds, mesh blinds, locks catches, replaced the empty but claimed half full gas bottle, various lights, tv connections etc etc. not moaning my fault should have known, anyway i'm getting it ther one problem that baffles me is fridge not working pulled it out and thermal coupling is gone, not busted gone, even the mounting screw and bracket gone as well, whats that all about ?, 230v element naff as well but parts all ordered, one puzzle can see where coupling mounts into gas jet flame but where does other end go?, any advice greatly welcomed.

oh. its a Thetford N112.

Sorry, cant help you directly, other than it's got to connect with the control electrics/electronics one way or another!

But try this link, never used them, no idea if any good, but it's a start!

I think it has to go into the control board as well but i cannot see anywhere it would, i'm guided here by the picture of the new part i've ordered and that clearly is a connection into a gas block or something like it. I've searched the electric box at the bottem back of the fridge and definately no suitable fitting in that, only place i can't see into is the mounting panel at the top front where the control panel is. I saw Justask on my searches for more info, may have to go that way but i hate having to admit defeat for a ruddy fridge and Thetford fridges of that model are not represented at all online for tech info, looks like try again tomorrow.

Hi Jack,

I don't have any experience with fridges, but the idea of a thermocouple is to switch off the gas supply in the event of failure so I think the cable should connect to somewhere on the gas valve to shut the valve in the event that the pilot light goes out.

Someone with more experience than me may be along soon.

Makes me angry seeing good honest folk get conned by unscrupulous greedy folk with zero morals. If a caravan is faulty and is advertised accordingly and potential buyers want to sort it that’s fine that’s an indivisuals choice to take that risk but to sell it knowing it’s riddled with faults or damp or bits missing and not declare it? No better than a thief for me as you are stealing someone’s hard earned
Good luck in the repairs OP

Got to say i agree although its my own fault, i asked before going if there were any notable problems and i was told about the cracks in the shower tray which couldn't be hidden and the sticking door lock which was an easy fix but there's been a whole list of other problems that are all fixed because they were straight forward but this ruddy fridge is becoming a nightmare, i have tried everywhere i can think of and others suggested to me including a popular ask site which was going to get back to me shortly.. that was before the weekend, Thetford have nothing online showing the info i need and don"t answer the phone (also sent them email, still waiting) and tried phoning a well known agents connected to the east coast, starting to think this equipement is protected by the offical secrets act but onward and upward not giving up yet.

The coupling is copper encased with the connecting wiring also copper encase with a screw on joint which seems to be the outer copper casing carries is one part of thr circuit and the internal wire the other so that when its screwed in thats the circuit to the "brain" but the is nothing on my fridge that it can possibly screw into so there has to be something that connects it and the only unused electrical connection i can find is inside the panel top front that holds the controls and lcd screen, inside is a small pc board with an empty 10 pin connector. If this is it then it would need to be a female screw on joint coupling end with this 10 pin plug other end, ain't seen anything like that anywhere.

I do have a local caravan motorhome sales site within distance but after a fire they closed there on site shop and services leaving just sales, they have another site miles away but i might try them. I have tried ringing Elddis several times recently but no answer. I can't believe there is not one old Thetford N112 EES model out there after ten years that could not be examined for the answer but so far no !. I have bitten one bullet i went today and bought a low mileage for year Lunar Rapidstar on the Fiat Ducato 2.8 diesel chassis so i am going to get out one waynor the other.

Just an update with fingers extremely crossed, just heard from a gentleman who has asked me for model details etc., but has already said that coupling connects to a solinoid that itself connects via wiring to circuit board, pretty much what i expected so i'm hoping he can get me parts or maybe part numbers even a picture, will post once i know.
