What caravan do you have? Which direction are you coming from? It's a challenging drive either way but perfectly do-able if you're reasonably confident and you've got the right tackle.
Campbeltown is the nearest anything to be honest, about 20 minutes if memory serves.
We had a twin axle Elddis last time we were there, Vito van towing it. Just fitted in the passing places and no more.

Easy enough then. Take the single track road but do it mid day or after tea time. Less chance of constant traffic in the other direction. Don't try it in the dark, you'll see why when you go.
The site has a lot of grass pitches which are a bit of a mare if it's wet but they dry out really quickly and the site owner has a land rover that he'll sort you out with, zero towing finesse though.
Green toilet fluid only, small site shop but Campbelltown for just about everything.
Really beautiful place although not a lot to do that isn't walking, sitting, looking, you know the sort of thing. When you drive to Campbelltown solo you'll see why the single track is the easier option, in my opinion anyway.
Skin so soft essential, I'm itching just remembering.
Don't mean to sound negative, it's a gorgeous place and the locals are cracking you just need your wits about you for the technical bits.

I'll leave the towing advice to others but friends with a 'van who've stayed at Carradale have come down from the north. Claonaig/Lochranza ferry isn't going to be running (except on request) up to and including 14th July so you won't have to deal with ferry traffic on the top section after you leave A83. You might find the A83 facebook info page helpful for roadworks and also any wind farm related movements.

Use local pages for information on what's open locally - it's all pretty fluid. The Co-op is on A83 near centre of Campbeltown (garage almost opposite). Excellent chippy (if open) not far away from Co-op.

In good weather and subject to tides - get a tide timetable - the walk over the Davaar Island is worth it. Likewise, driving round the South End - some interesting caves - and a walk to the Mull of Kintyre Lighthouse (steep, long climb back up!!).

I've driven both of these roads many times, only in a car mind you, as I visit Machrihanish every year. I can't offer towing advice but whichever way you decide to take will be an adventure on its own.
If going down the B842 from Claonaig it is very narrow with some interesting inclines and bends :)
The long way, down the A83 into Campbeltown and then head back up north to Carradale seems a more relaxed route. Either way has steep inclines and downhill sections with tight bends, and beware the locals who seem to be in a hurry all the time on those roads ;)
Like others have said, it is really beautiful up there, have a safe trip and enjoy it.

We went there some years ago and it's beautiful. Very peaceful and stunning scenery.

Fine, Pine Trees is lovely. Real Food cafe does some lovely food (not all that cheap but fresh cooked and very good). Mini Mart (just north of the Green Welly) has a good range of stock. Check out fuel prices at Green Welly before buying - can be expensive which I why I avoid them if possible! If you're thinking of heading up to Glencoe - go early and avoid weekends. You could go to the Co-op at Ballachulish if you need supplies whilst you're up there.

Make sure you've got anti-midge stuff if you're a sufferer!
